Chemical sanitizers should not be used indiscriminately. It can be dangerous.  Bacteria can rapidly develop resistance to commonly used chemical sanitizers. There is a growing body of evidence demonstrating that quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) can induce resistance to other chemical sanitizers as well as to antibiotics.  The excessive use of chemical sanitizers and the over-use of antibiotics (for humans and animals) can lead to the evolution of dangerous superbugs.

Millions of people are also developing severe health conditions because of continuous exposure to endocrine disruptors.  The FDA has already banned 24 antibacterial chemicals commonly found in cleaning products and cosmetics because considered endocrine disruptors, like Triclosan.
